Last Friday, February 7, 2025, the HGV-Teck New Year's reception took place at the Teckhalle in Owen. As the keynote speaker, I, Frank Hummel, had the opportunity to engage the audience with my lecture on Entrepreneurial Opportunities in a Climate-Neutral Future. The event was not only well attended but also highlighted the strong interest in sustainable energy solutions and the transition to an electric future.
High-caliber lecture with lively discussion
As an entrepreneur and author of the book Highway to Climate Hell , I shared my insights from over 30 years in the energy industry. I explained why the transition to renewable energy is not only necessary, but also makes economic sense. My comparisons between nuclear power and renewable energy were particularly impressive, making it clear that solar and wind power are already the more cost-effective solutions today.
The discussion about the "dark lull" and the role of battery storage led to numerous questions from the audience. I emphasized that the combination of photovoltaics, battery storage and smart energy use already offers functioning solutions today. My example that a PV system on a garage roof is sufficient to charge an electric car for 12,000 to 15,000 kilometers per year aroused particularly great interest.

Active participation and many questions
After my presentation, an extremely lively question and answer session developed. The participants used the opportunity to ask in-depth questions about energy solutions, electromobility and economic aspects of the energy transition. The debate about investing in battery technology, which is currently taking place not in Germany but primarily in Asia, was particularly exciting.
Another highlight was the discussion about the future role of companies: How can they actively contribute to the change? What funding opportunities are there? I showed concrete examples of companies that have not only been able to reduce their CO₂ emissions through sustainable energy concepts, but have also benefited economically.
Positive response and media attention
The participants found the event extremely informative and inspiring. Many guests praised the clear communication of complex relationships and the practical examples. The regional press, including the Teckbote , also reported on the event and highlighted the relevance of the topics.
